Default An interesting article on food addiction

http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/04/2...reut/index.html

Quote:
A brain scan study of normal, hungry people showed their brains lit up when they saw and smelled their favorite foods in much the same way as the brains of cocaine addicts when they think about their next snort.

The rest of the article isn't quite as interesting, but I found that bit in particular to stand out, as I've compared my cravings to drug addiction before.

The other interesting part to me is the trigger foods, the majority of which are high in carbs:

Quote:
"The favorite food items most frequently selected by the subjects were bacon-egg-cheese sandwich, cinnamon bun, pizza, hamburger with cheese, fried chicken, lasagna, Bar-Be-Que rib, ice cream, brownie, and chocolate cake."

Some people think that we simply have food allergies to these things.

Does that mean a cocaine addict is allergic to cocaine? (chuckle)
