Question This may be gross!

I apologize if this is a little gross, but it is a concern of mine, so I had to ask.

I gained weight (4lbs) over X-mas and New Years essentially because I wasn't following the diet. I stayed with friends of mine over the holidays. They are Indian (subcontinental, not native american/first nation). Have ever tried to stay at an Indian home without eating rice or roti? Right!! So, I gained some weight. To speed my weight loss and because I had experienced a stall/weight gain before the Holidays, I upped my fat content while lowering my calorie intake for three days starting last Sunday. After that, I increased calories to 1800+ while still maintaining that 75-80% fat content. Oh, and I exercise for about 2hrs 4-5x/week. [That preserved my sanity over the holidays when I saw the scale going in the wrong direction.] I've now lost all of my holiday weight and am working on my stall weight.

Anyway, the issue: Unlike some who may have had problems with constipation, I seem to be keep pretty regular. My concern is that sometimes immediately after . . . urrr. . . waste disposal, I feel decidely weak. This isn't the first time during this diet that I've noticed this. What's happening? And, what should I do if anything?

Thanks for any help.

Ororo,
This happened to me last week too! My guess is you lost some electrolytes (as you would if you had diarrhea). One thing I know that has electrolytes in it is celery juice. There are drinks designed to replace electrolytes, but they probably contain sugar. Razzle is right, though -- you probably should talk to a doctor if this continues.

I've experienced the constipation this past week - odd because I have been on the LC WOE since August. I do not feel week after going to the BR tho.
The nurse in me wants to tell you to make sure you are drinking plenty of water, but I know I do and I have constipation lately too.
One thing to consider is - Just how hard are you straining!?!!? When you hold your breath and bear down, it can cause what is called a vagal response, which can make you feel faint. If this continues, I'd seek advice or at least a stool softener, but beware the Dr will probably go bananas about your "WOE"!

Good luck and keep us posted

Default Thanks

Thanks for your replies guys. I got sidetracked during January and February and haven't been online for a while. I'm preparing for a month-long trip to Costa Rica and am packing up my house.

At any rate, thanks for the advice. I've been doing a lot better lately. I'll try the celery juice (wonder how that will taste?) and get back to you.

cheers
