Default Hey Everybody...

(yes, I know I am yelling) go to the Dr.'s website
http://www.schwarzbeinprinciple.com/ and you can read the cover and back of her new book due in October 2002

I haven't checked amazon.com yet, sometimes they have a few more pages of books to read. I want to check on when my pre-ordered one will be sent also.

Why your cardiovascular exercise program might actually be ruining your health.

This was on the back of her new book. I wonder where she's going with this? I wonder if it's just a warning for those who tend to OVERtrain with cardio?

I know weight lifting is a welcomed plan b/c it builds muscle, the very thing we need to boost our metabolism. But I wonder why cardio could be ruining our health?

Now I REALLY want that book ASAP so I can see about this angle she has. Most of my workouts in the pool are resistance and strength focused, not cardio, but when I do my laps and running in pool, it is definitely cardio (tho it's mostly resistance, with some minor heavy breathin ).

Okay, ramble off, just that my interest is VERY piqued now. Have a great day!

Default Hmm. perhaps

I had read something in Atkins Age defying diet about some activity being so intense that its actually killing you faster by increasing the stress on your body.
How many of us have seen the older guy that jogs/runs miles a day and he has great legs..but he has run so hard so long. and eaten basically so poorly his top half is wasting away.
I know I have had to slow down what I think I need to do
That is harder for me than comprehending why I need to be eating fat and less carbs.
Just supposing..
:-)

I must say that statement has whet my curiosity also. I guess those who have pre-ordered from Amazon will be getting it soon(?).

I have seen many routines called 'cardio', depending on the source from walking the dog to intense routines. Personally, I have never cared for hours of 'jumping ' around or jogging (seems I always injured something) intensely, but love walking at a crisp pace & the feeling I have afterward. I think weight training of some form is very important as we age to build muscle & I have found it useful in losing also along with some aerobics.

I guess we will have to be patient and wait for the book!

Default I'll hazard a guess...

...that what she will say is that intense cardio wastes muscle tissue thereby lowering your metabolism because you have less muscle mass driving it on.

Maybe we should make bets?
