Smile Need some input please

I've been doing some research lately. Body fat, BMI, height/weight, etc. I think my goal weight is too high for me. But then when I think about it, I think that maybe I'm just getting frustrated. Especially when I read the thread of everybody's height, weight and size clothes.

I think I'd be happy for now increasing my goal weight to 180. What do you think? Am I just fooling myself?

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanx.

Good morning, Janey.
What weight have you been most comfortable with in the past? Which allowed you to feel energized, low blood pressure and just plain feeling good?
That is the one I suggest. You know what works best for you and you are wise to evaluate your goal weight.

It never hurts to keep it where you have it for now. That would be a good loss and a few sizes changed. From there, you can reevaluate. You may also want to talk with your doctor and see what she/he suggests as a range for you.

Keep achieving!
Best wishes, Annie-Pie

Some heavy duty scales (normally found in the gym or your doctors) tells you what your ideal weight should be. My doctor usually has a chart on weight vs age. I think 180 sounds a bit on the high side though but then you are quite tall so you might be right with that goal. But either do more research on the Net or try and find one of these scales that give you all the info. Good luck.

I would say 180 would be fair. If you hit 180 and still think you need to lose, you can always change it again.

Hi, Janey
I say go for the 180, and if your happy there. then maintane it. Do little goals until you get to where your Happy. Do wht makes you happy and don't worry about BMI, Charts and all the stuff that says you have to weight x amount of pounds. We are all different. and don't get frustrated, Remmber you are doing this for you, Now repet that ten times,

I too, was frustrated reading the size/weight thread. I think we just need to go by what is best for us. Our bodies are all different in the way they store fat.. clothing sizes will generally be all over the place for each individual. Maybe switch your goal and see how you feel when you get there?

Thanx for the input everybody. I also called one of my Atkins buddys and she agreed with me. She says that I'm getting caught up in the whole number thing. She asked what I weighed at my wedding. I was around 180ish. She said that looked good on me, and I should aim for that.

Anyways, I can always adjust later. Thanx again!

It's true...one of the beautiful things about this WOE is that once by the time you're done customizing it to your lifestyle, metabolism, and tastes, you will know exactly what foods help you lose, maintain, or gain. If you're at 180, maintain there for a month or two, see if you feel happy, and if not, then go back a few steps into "slow losing" mode and see if you cant get down to 178 or something, then stay there for a month or two. Remember, if 180 makes you happy, then if you can get lower you'll be really happy....but if you can't get lower, you'll know that you've found the weight that you're body wants to stay at!

A good idea would also be to figure out what your body fat percentage is. Use one of the online calculators such as theone under the resources link at www.zoneperfect.com

Then figure out what a healthy body fat percentage would be for your age and shoot for that instead of a certain weight. Because Atkins has good protien and calories you may hit 180 and be more muscular and toned then before, making you a smaller size at that weight.

Remember too though that you may have some loose skin or pockets of fat that will take time to redistribute, so reaching that weight you may not be satisfied for a little while, even though it's a good weight for you.
