Lightbulb Zone Coach Fudge YUMMY!

I made some adjustments with my recipe as well b/c I have different types of protein at home. I only like Soy proteins, whey to me tastes like ick After Fitday, here's what mine looks like:

4 servings Genisoy Protein –80 C, 56 P
2 servings Twinlab Soy Protein- 30 P
6 TB Peanut Butter-45 F, 21C, 24 P
6 TB Dry Milk-26C, 18 P
5 TB Cocoa –10 C, 5 P
1 TB Olive Oil- 14F
3 TB Fructose-38C

Totals: 59F, 175C, 133P= 19 Blocks in all!

SO YUMMY! I froze it then weighed the whole batch equaling
25 oz divided by 19 Blocks = 1.30 oz per piece = 1 Block
and it was a HUGE helping! I think this will be a keeper during the PMS days.

Thank you Zone Coach!!!

I'm glad it turned out for you. Quite frankly, I'm surprised. Soy powder has a tendancy to make things like that "gluey". When it comes to soy powder though, Genisoy seems to 'blend" the best.

Since you're the "mathematical" type, try weighing your ingredients next time to see if you come up with a difference. I use a digital scale. My protein powder and milk weigh in differently than basic kitchen measurements.

Thumbs up digital scale

What a wonderful idea!

After your post on Friday I purchased a digital scale on Saturday. The cost was $60 (10 yr warrenty!) and well worth it for any Zoner. I can not believe how much you can misjudge a measurement. I am finding in the past 2 days a lot of my misjudging was that I was using too little of one particular ingredient.

Some examples for me were in the mornings I have 1/2 scoop Genisoy Shake and 1 block of fat from Halved Almonds.

Genisoy measures: for 1 scoop (39 grams) = 2P, 2C
*so I would use 1/2 scoop =1P, 1C
Halved Almonds: for 1F =6 grams
*so I would use the Zone block meathod 2 tsp instead

I found using the digital scale that I was under-weighing both the shake and the almonds.

Not to mention when I sprinkle LF Feta onto my salad last night, my usual 2 TB was well below the weigh-in weight in grams.

So anyone who is in the Zone for the long haul and really likes to be as acurate as possible, I highly recommend a digital scale!

Once again, THANK YOU ZONE COACH!

I found by using the digital scale the scoop measurements most protein powders come w/ are off in weight.

One serving or ONE SCOOP of Genisoy Protein = 39 grams

After measuring this amount on the scale, one scoop only came out to be about 28-30 grams? hmmmm, funny right? Yet, I am sure not many of us are too shocked.

So when Zone Coach recommeded I use an electrical scale for the Zone Fudge bars, I decided to figure out the grams of each ingredient.

156 grams Genisoy
35.5 grams Twinlab Veggie Fuel
52 grams FF Dry Milk
25 grams Wondercocoa
96 grams Peanut Butter, Natural

I will attempt to make the fudge again tonight with the proper
measurements.

Geeze, when measuring, it sure does help to be exact!

I HIGHLY recommend using a food processor to blend your fudge! Makes it much quicker. Unfortunately, I didn't think to pull out my Cuisinart until after I decided my "fudge" tasted like the inside of an Atkins bar - ARG! - and needed to be mixed with a LOT more water.

I successfully used my chocolate Spirutein (adjusted quantity) because I don't like the whey either, so I didn't have it on hand. I am SURE there must be good brands out there - I may order some on line.

Anyway, fudge is in the freezer - seems good to me so far.

I like the Spiruteen too. But I found the Genisoy Ultra has more fiber (5 grams per serving) and also the chocolate flavor tastes more chocolatey

If you go to www.vitaminshoppe.com, they sell spiruteen, genisoy, Zone bars and any other vitamin/supplement for 30-70% off all the time. Shipping and handling is only $5 for anywhere in the US and this does not matter how many items you order, still $5.

Another reason I love it? They have a 30 day money back policy. If you try an item (yes, open it, and taste it) and you decide it's icky, just ship it back with a copy of your invoice (you pay shipping) and they will give you a full refund, not store credit. (unless you specify different)

Isn't that wonderful? Just thought I'd share!

I've been using vitacost.com but vitaminshoppe sounds too good to pass up! I've been buyin the Spirutein for $21.00 / 2 lbs (the BIG one) so I have lots left.

With Spirutein I find that I have an energy crash is I don't have an extra protein with them for some reason...

Anyway, thanks!

I recently saw one at Target for $29. Not sure of the quality.
