Smile Advantage shakes - Who uses them?

For my 4th time on Atkins, I've decided to get serious about this. I always thought I was serious in the past - I ate well, watched my carbs but always got discouraged. Now I know what to expect from Atkins and I am ready for all the stalls and weeks of not losing and the joys of the whoosh fairy. This time around though I decided to get the shakes. I ordered the Power Pak of Advantage shakes from Atkins. It's a little expensive but I thought Iwould use them for my morning breakfast because I just hate having to wake up and cook something. Has anyone else used them and how do you like them? I've heard that they taste great.

Joe

During induction shakes are not on the listed foods in the atkins books. After induction I use the keto shakes as a treat every once in a while

I was a little worried about having them on the induction phase, but after some extensive reading on the Atkins site, they list them as being good for all phases of Atkins and only have 3 net carbs. That equals the same as my 2 eggs and sausage in the morning routine. As my luck would have it though, I mostlikely won't get them until sometime next week when induction is over anyway so I'm not too worried.

I will drink one (and I do think that they are yummy on ice) when I know that I won't be able to eat for a while - like at work when I know that I have a lot of meetings and won't be able to have lunch until later. I limit myself to about 2 a week. They are expensive - but so is the whole diet. It is cheaper than my fast food addiction though!

Do you find that they fill you up for a couple hours after you have one? I appetite is pretty well supressed from being on Atkins which I love and I'm kind of hoping that all the protein will keep me satisfied.

The Atkins RTD shakes are a personal thing--I like them (well, except for the strawberry--can't STAND artificial strawberry flavor anything), others hate them. They keep me satisfied for ages when I use them. I have them in my classroom refrigerator for those days when I just didn't have time to make anything to bring to school.

I also use them in place of breakfast when I don't have time to cook. I have tried the choc and straw. They are okay, not terrible. They do fill me up unitl I have time to get lunch.

Mascoloj,
I know what you mean about needing something ready to eat when you have no time. I like the Advantage bars, especially the peanut butter & chocolate. They have lots of fiber which is a big help on Atkins and are very filling also. Good luck, you CAN do it this time!

I think they are nasty as shakes really. They are ok using just 1 scoop mixed with yogurt.

I like the carb control shakes as well as the designer whey shakes. For ready made I love the Ultra protien shakes and find the EAS carb control shakes good and a ton cheaper then Atkins shakes. Many of these also have less carbs then the Atkins shakes.

I dont think you should drink them on induction, or any processed foods for that matter. Its only two weeks, then i think you can move on to the low carb products. I tried one and i really liked it, I got the vanilla. But for how many calories and carbs are in it, Id rather eat a small meal that is more filling. But for skiing this winter, the atkins shakes are going to be a staple for me.

Another thing you could try is the Atkins "Morning Start" breakfast bars. The local grocery stores here sell them in Cinnomin and Apple Crunch. I like both flavors - they sell out of the stores WAY faster than the shakes do - people just stock up as soon as they can find them. Worth a shot!
