hi kvswife,

From Atkinscenter.com:

What Induction Can Do for You

Induction kick-starts your body into lipolysis/ketosis, switching your metabolism to one that primarily burns fat for energy.

The name Induction signifies that its purpose is to induce weight loss by changing your body's chemistry so that you will achieve lipolysis and the secondary process of ketosis ...
The allowed foods are those which will maximize your potential for lipolysis (fat-burning) and weight loss. Certain foods are either restricted in quantity, or not permitted at all during the 2 weeks because experience has shown that they can inhibit the Induction process, even though they may be "low" in carbs.

Using high-fiber vegetables and dark leafy salad greens to make up the bulk of your 20-gram carb allotment will ensure maximum success for you.

It's only 14 days Nuts, seeds and nut butters may be added once you're past Induction, and starting OWL.

Doreen
