Default Pretty skin!

Hi everyone!

I started taking supplements about two weeks in advance of beginning induction (I'm still pretty early in the diet, only day 8.) Now, after a week of eating low carb, my skin looks literally ten years younger. Don't know if it's the fats and oils, the supplements, or a combination, but no exaggeration, I look a lot younger. This is quite fabu because I just turned 40. Y'know the old saying, "If I could be younger, but know what I know now..." Well, that's what it feels like! Anybody else had a similar experience?

Nancy

If you are drinking all the water you are supposed to, that will sure do it! I always notice a huge difference in skin, hair & nails when I'm guzzeling down the water.

I read an article a few months back (in Allure, I think) about skin and diet. In a nutshell, it talked about a study that was done which proved that a high-carbohydrate diet will negatively affect your skin (that's the short-short version). It compared diets from here in the states, Japan, and other countries, as well as some small obscure island somewhere (don't remember) whose inhabitants lived on a virtually carb-free diet. And guess what? They were incredibly healthy, active, and disease-free, and they had virtually no incidences of acne.

I guess it just goes to show you...

I'll try to find out what month the article was from...

My skin has improved too--I think it's a combination of reduced carbs and lots of water. I normally have really dry skin in the winter and use lots of lotions. Not nearly as much this year--and I'm also past 40.

Catherine--

I'm taking a multivitamin, zinc, E, C, chromium picolinate (sp?), folic acid and potassium. Also using potassium chloride salt on food. I didn't think that it could be all the water, though...that makes sense, I've been guzzling in a major way. I've cut out everything but water and two cups of coffee in the early morning. (I know, I know...Dr. Atkins would have a cow...)
Best wishes,
nancy
