Exclamation Am I being overly cautious

I just went to put a dry rub on 2 chickens - after I washed and dried them I noticed one of them had a small puncture wound on the breast area - it penetrated the skin and went to somewhere near where the bone split occurs. I'm reluctant to cook it because I'm afraid it might have been tampered with - My DH say's I'm nuts and that I watch to much law and order and murder mysteries on TV - I checked the wrapping and there were no holes or tears in it. What do you think???? the other chicken looks fine and they were in the same pack.

I'd throw it away. A chicken doesn't cost that much. These days we can't be too careful.

Thanks Robert

That's what I decided to do - at .99 cents a pound a 3lb chickens not worth taking a health risk for. So it's gone. Good thing I had taken two out to cook

Sounds like it was a hook at the plant caught the bird in the wrong spot??

But your right 3 bucks, might as well be safe.

KoKo,
That was the right thing to do I am glad you threw it away. My Dad was a meatcutter and he was so careful and especially of chicken. He said that chicken and fish were the worst for harboring germs and bacteria. You can't be to careful. Pat S
