Just joined the forum today, what a nice place! My weight has been up and down the last year, depending on whether I'm sticking to my diet or not. I'm primarily on the Paleo diet plan (though I get some ideas from Atkins) because my doctor prescribed it for my Chemical Allergies and CFS. It helps my symptoms a lot, when I stay on it, and I certainly lose weight. I have a little trouble being strictly Paleo, but also don't tolerate dairy or any of the products sold by Atkins because of the additives. I'm feeling pretty committed this time, and hope that visiting this forum will help. Diana

Welcome! Is the paleo diet the one that suggest free-roaming chickens and all of that? I've read up on several lc diets - they all kind of run together after awhile! Probably why I stick with Atkins, it's the only one I remember.

Thanks, Iowagirl. Yes, Paleo advocates eating food in the most natural state you can find it. The best I am usually able to do around here is hormone free meats and chicken, but I do sometimes get access to wilder meat (I have a brother that hunts). And I buy organic. I've found that organic usually tastes lots better. For those on Atkins, try some fresh organic whipped cream sometime. It's not Paleo, but oh my, it's good.
