I think what the Eades are talking about are pappadums which are an Indian lentil crisp that is deep fried or toasted over open flame. You can't make them yourself but you can make Crispy Cheese Crackers. Other people microwave or bake sliced salami until crisp or use celery sticks, pork rinds, radishes and cucumber for crunch. You can also make low-carb bread, slice it thinly and rebake it in a low oven for crackers.
