Default too much air in stomach...

Hi,

I use to have lots of air in my stomach, anyone know what's the cause? I have diarrhea when I eat lots of carbs, but when I stop eating carbs which is what I'm doing now, I no longer have diarrhea, only air in my stomach...

If you mean that you burp or belch, it may be that you swallow air without knowing it. An anti- gas medicine like Gaviscon - available without prescription in North America - can help.

You may also have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which may be causing the diarrhea. I'd suggest upping your green leafy veggies to put a little more bulk in your diet. Bulk relieves both constipation and loose bowels as well as helping heal IBS. There is an IBS thread in this forum. You may also be eating too much protein, try adding a bit more fat to your diet and reducing the amount of protein.

From what you have described, that is entirely possible. I know from looking around there are some very good sites out there on celiac and how to 'eat around' it. The celiac diet is very compatible with low carbing. Why don't you try eliminating wheat/gluten from your diet and see how you do? Read *everything* very carefully. You'd be surprised where wheat/gluten will pop up! Corn, too.

yeah, celiac diet is very anti-carbs... so far most of the carbs we get are from food high in carbs like wheat.

i'm going low carb and i think i'll stick with it for life.

the last time i went to doctor i was prescribed with antibiotics that make me feel terrible so i didn't go to doctor right now and just stick with my low carb..

i've done some research on celiac and there's no cure for it but to stick with gluten-free food and troubles will be avoided.

gluten foods seems like poisonous to people who are allergic to it...
