Default inches lost, but no lbs.??

I was wondering how it is possible to loose inches, but not pounds, if you are NOT excercising at all??

acipenser, by not exercising at all do you mean you are bed ridden? You do not walk? Any weight bearing activity will encourage muscle growth - particularly if you're eating adequate protein and especially if you're eating adequate protein and coming from a low fat / inadequate protein diet.

Can you imagine what the shrinkage would be like if you were actively exercising

Nat

Thanks, I didn't realize that just by changing your diet you can change your musscle make up. I asked that question for the BF, who is dieting with me and not loosing any lbs, but is fitting into his clothes better. He is not bed ridden, just not doing anything extra in his daily routine.

As Nat said, his body was probably starved for protein and now that it's finally getting it it's bringing up the muscle mass to where it really needed to be all along. That really highlights the need to take measurements as well as step on a scale (or do neither and rely on how you feel or the infamous pant-o-meter). A fringe benefit that he will get is that the new muscle mass will be burning htat many more calories 24/7!

Default losing more inches!

Granted I am just starting and still on induction, but I have really noticed since my energy level is finally up, I feel like moving more, and have noticed already my clothes are alittle looser, and I have not made it a whole week yet. I think losing inches is great, shows more progress than that old scale!!

Best of luck, You can do it!!

Hi.

When you follow the Atkins plan, you initially lose a lot of stored water (bloating), so maybe this could have contributed as well?

As the water (bloating) is lost, the additional protein helps for muscle building...a balance, so no change in weight?

Just an idea....
