Unhappy Cluster migraine after too many carbs?

I had 2 small slices of homeade pizza last night for supper at my sisters house. I know that I shouldn't have but I gave in to a weakness. I also had a large salad and I drank water. This afternoon I had a sudden onset of a cluster migraine. I used to get them sometimes but had not had an instance of one since I started LC'ing about 4 weeks ago. Sometimes the headaches are triggered by sinus problems. I live in the Southeastern US where the heat and humidity are terrible for sinus problem sufferes.
I was able to overcome the pain with plenty of medicine.

Does anyone know if this could have been triggered by carb intake from the previous night? Has anyone had any similar experiences?

If this was caused by my indulging in a carb laden pizza then I will probably never succumb to the temptation again!!!!!
Thanks, jary

Question Head full of carbs

HI jary,
I have no facts to render only personal experience.
Before LC-ing I suffered migraines . Since I started in July
I haven't had one. I've noticed a lot of physcial benifits with
this WOL. My Dr's tell me there are many reasons people
get migraines and food is just one among them....so if
you see a migraine specialist ask him/her their opinion.
You don't say how often you used to get migraines before LC-ing
but you'll pretty much know after staying LC for a few weeks and you remain migraine free that carbs may be a factor.
If so, you know all too well the pain is not worth the pizza

Default ahhhhhh!!!

I've not had a cluster for about ten year, knock on wood (he taps his skull). I only have my experience, and in my memory none of my clusters were associated with dramatic changes in carb consumption one way or the other.

I hated clusters -- I don't know what I would do if a cluster started now, as they no longer sell the medication I took (caffergot). Good luck to you -- no one needs these damn headaches --

I did a search for migraine headache triggers from food and some of the most common ones listed were wheat, cheese and yeast, so I would say pizza could very well be the culprit.

I never noticed a difference in the frequency of my migraine headaches and the amount of carbs I consumed, but I noticed a dramatic decrease when I stopped chewing gum with aspartame in it. I had to stop because I had to wear a temporary crown for about a month. That was about a year and a half ago and I haven't had to take any medication since then (and I'm crossing my fingers in the hope that it stays that way!).

Those headaches are agony. I hope lowcarb keeps you migraine free!

Kari

Smile THANKS

Thanks everyone for your input. I certainly now believe that eating the pizza (yeast, wheat) contributed to my cluster headache. I am now convinced that my WOE is going to be low-carb from now on. I do not ever want to have another one of those horrendous headaches again.
Thank you, jary
