Question carob?????

Ok, I asked a question in someone elses thread and got ignored, so I'll try once more. I feel invisble when I ask questions here.

I just opened a bottle of GNC L-Glutamine soft gels. I read the label when I bought it and it said no sugar, starches, or carbs. One of the ingredients listed is carob. Is it something I should stay away from? Is it a type of sugar? They tasted a bit like cocoa when I went to swallow them and am concerned that there is something in them that could pose a threat to my weight loss. I did look up carob on fitday and only found carob chips and powder and carob laden goodies. I am about 2 seconds away from panic after looking it up, as the carbs in everything with carob were high.

To be more comfortable about it, you can buy and take L-Glutamine in powdered form. Just mix it with water.

Carob flour has 3.93 grams of ECC per tablespoon, so the small amount in a gel cap would be pretty insignificant as far as carbs go.

Your questions can get lost when posting in another thread that may be a different topic. And, sometimes no one knows the answer without having to research it.

Thanks for answering, I just wanted to get some idea before I took another 6 grams of pills tonight and damned myself some more if that were the case. I am also reading conflicting comments about glycerin here, and that is another of the ingredients in this glutamine. Gonna have to shell out the money for the powder I guess.

I haven't purchased the powder yet, but I'm going to. Natrushka told me that even though it is expensive, a $50 package lasts here 7 to 8 months and she takes over 20 grams a day. She also suggested getting the more expensive powder at GNC because it tastes better (needs less water dillution).

Whoa! Where can I find this??? I've bought ProLab pure L-glutamine powder, but a 300 gram canister cost a small fortune. At 20 grams a day, that's only 15 days supply if you take it every day. Largest container I've ever seen is 1000g (1 kg) ... which would be 50 days' supply.

Do, I get the one pound tub from GNC. It's 69$ for regular customers, but comes to around 52$ for 'gold card' members (of which I am one). I use it 2x a day for 10g - the other 10g come from my whey/soy shakes. It does last me around 6-7 months (now that John doesnt use it anymore ). It's good quality - disolves well and not much grittiness.

Thanks I didn't think of the glutamine in the protein isolates, but of course they're an excellent source. I'm taking extra glutamine for my fibro and leaky gut. Not going to say it's a cure but for sure I'm experiencing a LOT less pain after exertion.

Do, I found this article today on glutamine - you might find it interesting.
