Splenda Hmmmmm! I know she doesn't like any thing except stevia and occasionally raw honey. But most people use it with out any problems.

ohara - I would give myself a few weeks of AS free WOE before experimenting with sweeteners...but that's just me. Try it...if you feel ill, start having cravings for sweet stuff or find you are overeating the sweetened thing, then you know you are reacting.

Good luck

Lisa

Thanks Lisa,
The only thing I was going to use it for was lemon water. I hate drinking alot of water so I'v been putting crushed ice and lemon in it which tastes great. But when the weather is warm the want for it to taste alittle like lemonaid is there. I'll see how it goes!

I use Splenda and will not stop.

In fact I hope her new book eases up on the artificial sweetener thing. I agree that aspartame is poision, but splenda and even saccharin are now considered safe.

I use Splenda, stevia, saccharin (sweet 'n lo) and acesulfame potassium sweeteners.

Be aware some sweeteners like Splenda have maltodextrin (a starch) added to them. In that case, I count the carbs. But one measley packet of Splenda only has 1 carb and 1/2 cup measures-like-sugar Splenda only has 12 grams of carbs - a lot less than 1/2 cup real sugar!

I bake with these sugar subs and will not give them up.

Since the authors of a book called the Insulin Resistance Diet feel sugar subs can trigger cravings, they suggest having them with a form of protein, which I always do. For example, if I eat a low carb muffin baked with Splenda, I have a small amount of protein with it like some cottage cheese or nuts etc.

Works for me and absolutely no cravings.

Hi,
I have tried to drink my coffee black and failed. I need it to be sweet. So I have used nutra sweet (poison) sacharin etc etc. It hasn't slowed my weight loss. I live in a house with three half gallons of ice cream (which I used to love) and they seem to have no pull on me whatsoever. I haven't had ice cream in at least six weeks. This woe is amazing in that you lose much of your cravings for what you don't need. Good luck and if you can lose weight and use artificial than go ahead.
Jerry

Thanks spirit and Jerry,
So far I haven't had any cravings with it and alittle goes along way. I would like to use honey because it's natural but honey and ice don't mix! You both are doing great and are a good influence. Jerry your journal is really good to read. It's...entertaining! Ice cream used to be tough at times for me also but not anymore. I make homemade for my family about once a week and have no desire for it at all.
Hope you have a great weekend!
