Question Animal fats?

Hiya everyone,

When u're low-carbing, fat is your friend.

But "who" is your best friend?

I just read from another site that u should get your fat-intake from olive oil, mayo (liquid fat). The author of that article says that animal fats (solid fat) is kinda bad for u cos it's harder to get rid off.

I've been eating lots of animal fats (chicken skin, roast pork belly / shoulder). I don't trim the fat off my meat.

Should I cut back on animal fats?

All input would be much much appreciated. I thank u all in advance.

Bebe

Here's the article that I was referring to.
About 1/5 down the page, read "Eat Higher Quality Fat".

Thanks!

Bebe,

I think you have to take that article in its context - a whole host of different ways to break a plateau/stall. A stall is no weight loss or inch loss for at least six weeks.

The writer was merely reporting that some people had benefited from reducing animal fat. This is of course anecdotal reporting from another forum. We have no idea how much was being consumed before and how much they reduced.

Atkins fat fast illustration does not have large amounts of animal fat. The other side of the point being made is that there are good fats and bad fats. Udo Erasmus goes into some detail on this.

Good being things like Olive oil and the fish oils, flax/linseed etc. nuts and seeds.

Protein power, Dr. Eades says not to worry to much, make sure that the protein is sufficient, the carbs are under control and don't worry about the fat.
