Angry No Willpower!

I don't know why I am writing this because I know deep down that I am weak and I give in EVERYTIME...but I am just so FRUSTRATED WITH MYSELF! I dont know what I'm really expecting anyone to post to me, but I guess I'm just looking for some advice and someone to just YELL AT ME I guess! hah! I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WILLPOWER agasint desserts/sweets. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you cope? What do you do? I'm one of those people that being told "DOWN 16oz. OF WATER AND THE CRAVING WILL GO AWAY" doesn't work a damn bit for me! My cravings are so powerful sometimes that I just have no willpower to say "NO" to them. Yes, I know that if it isn't in the house, then I wont be able to eat it--so that is half the problem, but my fiance has this bag of TollHouse cookie mini-candy bars at my house and I just CANNOT stay away from them. I only eat two little ones, but it's like, I can't avoid them. That is with ANYTHING dessert-like or sweet. AND, I can't eat a meal without having something sweet afterwards, no matter HOW full I feel.

Please, if someone else can offer some advice (if you have "been there, done that"), please post. I need a good kick in the rear!

Erica

I totally know how you feel. The first time I started induction I crashed and binged HEAVILY on about 20-35 homemade x-mas cookies, I was so full and I almost threw up because my body couldn't physically hold anymore food. The 2nd time I crashed on induction I ate 10x more. 35 cookies at least, a massive amount of chocolate, tons of doughy snack foods like bite sized junk, and ice cream. The 3rd and LAST time I crashed on food was 6 days ago, but I won't really call it a binge because I controlled myself while doing it. I had about 5 cookies instead of 30, and 1 1/2 cups of ice cream instead of like the whole carton. I then decided I couldn't do that to myself anymore because it brought my mood down DRASTICALLY. I also realized on the 3rd time kicking myself from Atkins Induction that the ice cream and cookies didn't taste as good that 3rd time around. It didn't satisfy me emotionally as it once had before. They always say 3rd times a charm, right? I feel that nothing will tastes as good as I once thought it to be, and it's not worth it, definantly not worth it. I was putting myself through hell being depressed and worrying if the weight is going to come back off or if i'd made myself gain. I was also worried what I was doing to my body, having low sugar levels and such, then spiking it in a short amount of time. I just stay away from all the junk now, but for the most part, I don't crave it anymore. When I do feel cravings I either, come to this forum for support, watch T.V. in a room away from food, read a book, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE (go for a walk or general exercise, goto the store, or just drive around) or call someone on the phone and talk to them for a while and get my mind off of food. There are tons of ways to control the craving and smoosh it like a bug . You CAN do this if you stick to it, one thing I learned from everyone at this forum and taught myself, do NOT come down on yourself, don't say your a failure and know you CAN do something if you put your mind to it and really truly want it. I wish you the best of luck. You CAN be successful.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a sweet treat. I have a couple of spoonfuls of frozen chocolate yogurt at about 7:00 p.m. I don't have a sweet tooth anything like you do though. Have you considered looking at some recipes so you can have something "legal", you're fiance may like them too. Whenever I get tempted with anything I shouldn't be eating, I go upstairs and look at my "small" clothes in my closet that I can't wait to get into, I also look in magazines, at TV at the fashions - that's what is keeping me on track lately.

Hey... Im 24 years old and I know how you feel i have always been over weight. I've been with my BF for 5 years he is dedicated to eating right and working out and he is a certified personal trainer (although he never used it), and he has never minded my weight, but of course I always have.

For years I have said .. "I'm on a diet" but it lasts only a short time and I never accoplished anything. I never had the will power... NONE!

But South Beach really changed my life. I EAT with it and I dont really crave the junk anymore (and I love chocolate anything lol and sweets, plus being Italian... the pasta OH MY GOD) But I have to say that SB is a workable diet. I started in Feb and i have lost 23 lbs so far. I currently am back on phase 1 to try to lose a few more poundsquickly.

I just want to tellyou that you can do it! Give it a try... youll see .. it teachs you to eat right.. which really is the purpose of a diet!

Good luck let us know if you started.

HI! You may want to check out the thread on The Carbohydrate Addict's diet. Take the test and see where you stand. It may be the one for you. Some of the plans are different than others so check them all out. We all seem to think that the plan we chose is the best, but you need to inform yourself and make a wise decision concerning your own personal needs and wants. For some it seems that staying away from all carbs helps them control the cravings and for others having a small amount of carbs helps them control it. Try it out and see what you think. Good luck. We've all been there.
