I am in the process of reading the Atkins book and something in there concerns me. Where it lists prescriptions that may hinder weight loss while using Atkins, it lists birth control. I am currently on birth control and I'm worried about how this might affect my weight loss results on Atkins. Has anyone else been on birth control while doing Atkins? If so, did it affect your weight loss?

My weight loss crawled along when I was on ABC. I tried low-dose, high dose... you name it. I lost about 2 pounds a month; when I went off (the only change made) I was back to 10 pounds per month. DH now suffers through with condoms.

IF ONLY mine would do that! He refuses!

hmmmm could this be the reason for my slow progress??? I lost 20lbs in 2 months while taking BCP. But now i remember 2 yrs ago I WASNT on BCP and lost 10lbs in ONE WEEK!!!! At that time dh and i were ttc so i didnt need bcp.....NOW I DO!!! and dh is allergic to condoms oh, lucky me!

I guess i'll survive with SLOW WEIGHT LOSS

I take the mini-pill because I am still BFing my son and also on Atkins. I've been taking this particular pill since 6 weeks after my son's birth. While I certainly was not losing weight prior to starting Atkins, the good news is I am on the pill and still dropping weight. I have to lose slowly though because I can't do induction/OWL while BFing.

With the exception of being pregnant and nursing, I have been on the pill for the last 15 years and had no weight problems until after my 2nd son was born.

Well... I tell him he can deal with a baby, a sexless marriage or condoms. He chose condoms.
