Default any TDC folks doing Neanderthin/paleo

Hey everybody!

I am wondering if anybody here is doing /has tried either of these ways of eating?

I am reading the Paleo book and thinking about switching. It really makes sense to me, but am afraid to stall my weight release.

Any thoughts or experiences? I am doing a semi atkins WOE right now.

Hey there,

There is a board here on the forums with some info on it:
http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=107

There is also a book called Neanderthin and The Paleo Diet.

It is basically eating the way pre-historic man ate. All lean meats, no dairy, no legumes or grains. So low carb but without processed foods, sugars, salt etc. You eat fruits, lean meats and non starchy veggies.

Seems to make more sense to me. Since our genetic make up has barely changed in the last 40,000 years (according to the book and current research)

Just curious if anybody has tried it and what the results were/are.

I switched to Neanderthin a few weeks ago from Atkins. I have no problem following it when I am home, but April and May are two busy months and I am letting me sabotage my plan when I am caught in hotels (late night vending machines).

I really like neanderthin as a food plan. I can't do dairy without it causing cravings. That is what helped me switch. I wasn't combatting stalls, I was combatting cravings. I also can't do vinegar. I really do like the plan. Marty

I just recently switched to Neanderthin from Atkins and am feeling a lot better physically and mentally on it. My sinuses have cleared up. My edema in my legs and feet has gone down which is making walking a whole lot easier now. I think I was having trouble with dairy and I am enjoying eating fruit again. I am also enjoying NOT having to count carbs. I simply eat what I want that is considerred paleo when I want. It works for me
and I plan to stay on this for life.

I am going to switch too.

It feels better to me in the long run.

Have you noticed any weight gain or stalling since you switched??

TIA

I have not noticed any weight gain or stalling but I only weigh myself once a month. I am noticing physical changes in myself and feeling better and the reduction of edema in my legs and feet are the best ones.

I haven't noticed any weight gain, in fact it sped up my weight loss a little. I haven't had a stall either. Marty

You are welcome. Did you start reading Neanderthin yet? I got the chance to sit down and read it today. I had a couple of duh aha moments about the corn and arthritis.

I had been reading a lot of other lc books but had to order neanderthin and it seemed to take a while. All my other books came in first, even the ones I ordered after I ordered Neanderderthin. Sheesh. Marty

Hey there,

I did pick it up and read a few of the recipes. It seems like a lot of the book info is on his site.

I read a few pages and skimmed through. But we have been gone all day and same goes for tomorrow.

Next chance I will prolly get to sit down and focus on reading will be Tuesday. LOL crazy busy weekend.
Will post my thoughts though.

What did you think overall>??

I had to specially order Neanderthin as well. It took about a month before I got mine. This was the summer before last.

What did I thinK? I got clobbered on page 16 down at the bottom. I mean, you could have taken a baseball bat to my brain much earlier in my life and done much less damage than I have done to myself by eating the wrong thing.

I am addicted, (well, I was, not any more ) to popcorn. On page 16 he talks about "From skeletal remains it has been shown that arthritis followed corn..." And my brain went d&$#, sh&*, etc. Like I have been so stupid not breaking this addiction sooner.

I was diagnosed with arthritis in 1981 and have been struggling with pain ever since. The pain is the reason that I never moved more. So I have ripped the popcorn from my diet, started on a two day meat and fat only two day eating plan (mentioned on page 129) and decided to go for it with no half-way anything.

So for me, I am glad that I read it. I had heard that corn affected arthritis, but the way it was put just blew me away. I was ready to learn it. Marty
