Low carb emporium Bread and bagels
I have been duped. If it tastes too good to be true, it probably is. This company has finally started labeling their bread correctly, and the count is not the 5 grams -4 grams fiber = 1 net gram (as they claimed for the past year) per ounce. It now figures out to be 2.5 net grams per ounce.. so each bagel that I counted as 3 carbs was really 7.5 carbs. They have currently taken their carb count off their bread on the web site, deepdiscountnutrition.com not claiming ANY carb count, but their bagels on that site read with the OLD numbers.
I've been told by various sources that if a carb count is disputed on a label, the company may continue to produce the item with the old label but must correct future labels. Watch for the new labels. When they come out, the count is different. (they must have stock piled a LOT of labels, cause I'm still finding the old labels in some stores)
I wish they had independent labs testing these products. I'm really ticked off about them.
The bread is produced in Las Vegas, NV. I encouraged my local low carb stores to try to find a distributor and yep, they did. And the low carb restaurant is serving it for sandwiches with FALSE carb counts. They don't want to believe the correct carb count.
I can tell you that I immediately stopped losing weight when I added this bread. (at a carb a slice it was a welcome deal).
Live and learn.
