Hi Cheley,

I've never seen one in the supermarket, but there are some recipes for tomato sauce and barbecue sauce here.

Cheers.

Thanks for raising this very important issue - let me tell you I feel your pain!

All that meat and no BBQ sauce - it's a crime.

Will try those recipes I think....

Hi Cheley,
Empower foods have some low carb sauces. I tried Satay and sweet and sour (not together!!) and I think they also had a tomato or maybe it was bbq. I got them from my local health food shop in Adelaide. cheers Lyn

Carb Options has a tasty BBQ sauce - It's the hickory one that we have in the fridge right now.

Here's the website of their products. http://www.carboptions.com/products.asp

Most Grocery stores in our area have them in stock.

Hi
Iv'e never been a bbq sauce fan, but it occurs to me that anyone who likes the stuff could probably get by on Worcestershire sauce instead. Looking at my bottle of Lea and Perrins I note that the carbs are a little high at 22%, however its so strong, and you use only a few sprinkles. I use it all the time with bacon and eggs, and steak diane with shallotts and garlic.

Don't make the mistake of buying the cheap crap like Holbrooks, stick to L&P.

cheers

Here is a tomato sauce I make. You can mess around with the herbs and spices. I have made it a few times with different herbs. I like to use fresh as I grow them but dried should be ok to use. I now make larger amounts this was my original recipe.
Delia’s Tomato Sauce

30g onion 1.5
1 teaspoon olive oil 0
200g Tomato 4
2 teaspoons Wine Vinegar 0
3 splenda tablets 3
˝ tsp garlic 1.1
˝ teaspoon Ginger .3
Fresh herbs about 2 teaspoons total
Garlic chives
Oregano
Parsley neg. count
20g Tomato Paste 2.1

I sauté the onion in the olive oil then added the chopped tomato and simmer for about 20 mins on very low heat .
Add remainder of the ingredients and puree in the blender.
Put back in saucepan and cook slowly for about 10 mins be careful only have the stove on warm as you don’t want to burn the sauce. It should be quite thick if now just let it cook a little longer if by chance you get it to thick you can add a bit of water to it.
12carbs for total makes just over ˝ cup of thick sauce
