Unhappy Birth control pills and weight loss resistance

I've read several threads about spotting and other menstrual problems after starting low carbing, and I've experienced some difficulty with that myself.

However, today when I was re-reading DANDR, I noticed that he said HRT and birth control pills can prevent you from losing weight. However, Dr. Atkins only provided more details on the HRT aspect.

Can my birth control pills be holding me back? If there is a thread on this already, I couldn't locate it on my own.

Any insights on the pill and weight loss (or lack thereof)?

Thanks!

Teresa

As far as I know, it is fairly common for any hormone treatment including birth control to hamper weight loss and even cause you to gain weight. When I was on depo-provera is when I really ballooned up to my heaviest weight, and I really feel that at least part of it had to do with the DP. I had my tubes tied not long after I started LC'ing, and hadn't had a DP shot since before I started, so I never had a chance to experience lc'ing while actively taking BC.

I take Triphasil and have had no problems. Lost 40 lbs in 3 months. I'm only 19, so I guess age is a factor. Everyone is different, but wouldn't stopping BC just cause more problems? If ya know what I mean..
Good luck

I find it doesn't seem to slow me down at all. I'm in my 40s so I don't think age is a factor either. I guess it depends on the person.
