Hiya Montse,

Didn't I see somewhere that you are breastfeeding?

If you check your book, you'll see that Dr Atkins was pretty specific that pregnant and breastfeeding women should not undertake any of the weight loss phases of the diet.

It would be much better for you, and more importantly for your baby, to stick to a maintenance level of carbs until bubby is weaned. I would start on about 60 carbs a day, and just see how you go.

Hey Gals! I started Thursday and have already lost 8+ inches. I'm not touching a scale until a week has gone by, but will have my hubby measure me every 3 - 4 days Those inches look GREAT coming off!

Hola! First off I am in Mexico too! I live near Tequila, Jalisco. I started on induction again last Sunday. I have done atkins before and this is my second time back, I gained 18 lbs of the 20 I lost over the holidays, too many tamales, pozole, gorditas etc.!!! I so far have had good success in my first week. The best part is that the cravings have subsided and my appetite has decreased. I had rough week with the cold and rain and also being sick with a cold. I am one to feed a cold, but I stayed on track and I now I have lost. I am weighing in tomarrow. The other nice thing that has happened is food is not my life lately. It seems with carbs once I start eating the white carbs, (flour, rice sugar) it just send me wacko into just wanting to graze all day. So its been nice that my focus has not been on food. Let me kknow how you survive without those beans and tortillas, enchiladas. Its rough.

Lots of luck!! Gringo

Gringo...I know what you mean about once you start with the carbs you can just keep eating..i gained almost 10 lbs over the holidays and that is the reason why, now i'm back re-doing the induction phase, and i find my cranky!
Good luck with your weighing in!

Best of luck to all of you. I'm back on induction also. I lost some last year and felt great. Slipped up a bunch but still tried to keep the carbs down some so I only gained 3#s back. Now to lose the last 20 lbs and stay on controlled carbs after that. I have chronic pain and if I stay good and keep the carbs low I don't have to take much medication and have much more energy. The pain snuck back while I wasn't paying much attention.

I tried the diet about a year ago for a little over a month. Had great success with it. But, for some reason stopped.

Back in July, I tried to get back to it but it was during a pretty stressful time and I tried to do too much at once. So the diet fell first.

But, after making preperations on Friday, yesterday I have started again. And THIS time, I took some very unflattering pictures of myself. Now THAT definitely help me get motivated. Much more motivated than I've been about anything in my life.

I started induction yesterday. And so far, a little over five pounds has been flushed out of me. Hehe... Gotta love those initial days of water flushing.

Here's to the rest of my life...

John
