Default A Newbie in Cajun Country

Hi y'all,

I'm so excited to be a part of this forum. I honestly found this by accident when searching for some information regarding fibromyaliga and the effects of a low carb diet. Lucky me!

In just a very few days I will be 41 years old. I am a single parent of a 14 year old daughter who is involved in everything from sports to the arts. The energy it takes just to keep up with her is phenomenal. Combine the energy needed for her with working part-time as a Mental Health Counselor and going to school again...as an "old lady," and one can easily see where being overweight has caused me some problems.

I've been doing the Atkins thing since July, 2003. I've lost about 35 pounds, which is not a lot compared to others, but is an enormous amount for me. Was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 9 years ago. However, I know without a doubt that symptoms were there much longer than that.

I'm continuing to lose a pound or so a week. Have lost a lot of inches! For example, have lost 10 inches just in the waist. My main resolution this year is to exercise a bit more. I've made a deal with my daughter, the athlete, to go with me to our local walking track. She will do her running while I attempt to walk....one step at a time.

I look forward to losing and learning with you all!
