Default impact carbs

I bought some bars called myoplex carb sense which have 21g of carbs but 2g of impact carbs. I assume that impact carbs are that that turn to sugar? Are these OK on a low carb diet? If thats the case there are many diet breads that have 7g carbs but only 0.2g that sugars? Are these OK?

Can someone clarify this?

Many thanks

Stephen

As long as you are through induction these bar are ok. Just keep in mind, the bars can stall some people. The other carbs (from the 21 count) mostlikely comes from fiber and sugar alcohols. Sugar alcohols does not effect you blood sugar levels, that is why they don;t count.

The breads are not OK. The other 6.8 per cent is starch - ie pure carbohydrate.

So now I am confused as the bar says 21g but 2g that sugars and the brown breads says 7g of which 0.2g sugars. Why does one work and one doesnt?? I thought it was only white bread that was bad

On bread, subtract fiber from total carbs to get net carbs. Low carb breads I have seen range from 1 or 2 net carbs up to 7 or more so read lables.

The bars are controversial. Sugar alcohols may or may not affect blood sugar. Some people have gastrointestional reactions to them, some do not. They cause some people to stall, some have no problems. THey are a YMMV (your milage may vary) item.

It is not just sugars that are bad, but starch as well as this is just a complex sugar. Whilst brown (wholemeal) bread is a better option than white bread, both have carbs in them. So you need to take into account the total carb content minus the fibre (in the US) and polyols.
