I really need help on net carbs can someone please clarify if:
1. On any product do you minus the fibre from the total carb figure?
2. Here in the UK we have labels that state ?carbs of which sugars?
For example
Basmati Tilda Rice
Carbohydrates per 100g 77g
(of which sugars 0.7)
Do I look at the ?of which sugars? figure or do i look at the total figure?
I have at the moment taken the highest figure to be on the safe side.
THANKS

The "of which sugars 0.7" means that, of the TOTAL carbs of 77g, 0.7 comes from "pure" sugars like sucrose, glucose, fructose, etc. It's put there for diabetics. But the total carbs per 100g (77g) is what you go by because that includes the sugars.
I think it's great that the UK labels food values per 100g. In the US the manufacturer just states the values per "portion" and it's up to them to decide what cockamamie amount constitutes a portion. Makes figuring things out very difficult.
The UK/EU also has much more detailed food labeling than we do in the US.
