Default Walk away the fat challenge!

I thought there was one going already but I couldn't find it. Anywau, if anyone is interested, lets clock our miles and walk away the fat! I will start:

I am going to try and walk every day now and hopefully it will increase my fat loss.

Today I walked 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) in 65 minutes.

Thanks Stacey but I prefer walking outdoors; I get so bored on the treadmill. I will see how this thread goes.

Hi Xena,
I love your idea! My goal is of which I've completed one day is to be cheatfree and to walk everyday for 115 days. It gets dark in Cali pretty early, by 5 so my biggest problem is getting up early enough during the week to do it. I also work out at the gym but am hoping that doing the walking will add a little extra burn and I need to relax.

I usually walk on a trail that is inbetween home and work, so its really convenient. Where do you do your walking? Is the weather nice where you are? I recently discovered Kangeroo Island, it is my dream to visit although the tickets are pricey. The cheapest I could find were $1400 to get to Adelaide. This might be a dumb question but.. I've heard there are some nasty snakes in Australia. Are they so numerous that you have to watch for them where you are? There are tons of rattlesnakes where I walk, and I watch constantly although their supposedly dormant this time of year.

Today I walked 3 miles in 58min. I tried increasing my mileage to 5miles recently but everytime I did it I had so much pain in my ankles and knees and everywhere that I dropped down to 3 for a while.

Take care. I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow!

Hi Newchem. What do you mean walk for 115 days? Straight? LOL Do you mean like a challenge to do every day for 115 days? Sorry I can be a bit thick-headed sometimes?

The trail you walk is is obviously a bush trail? Being snakes around. I can't believe you walk somewhere where there are rattlesnakes????? Gees snakes give me the creeps. I live in the bush and yes there are snakes. I have been here for 18 months and haven't seen one yet.

I walk on a bush track, bitumen road or across country. I try to vary it. I know what you mean about pain, I've tried to increase my speed and end up with sore hips and buttocks so I will just keep it at this pace for a little while longer then increase my speed.

Luckily so far, I haven't come across a snake in all the 10 months of walking that I've been doing around here. The weather here is glorious at the moment. It is the end of Spring so we are starting to get some really nice, hot days and the snake season too. So I will have to be extra careful.

I walked today only for 30 minutes (1.5 miles) because I also did 30 minutes of aerobics on the sports channel.

So that's:

3.7 miles
1.5 miles

I bought some little free walking weights recently, and have incorporated them into my hourly walk. Not only are they giving me more of a workout, but I actually have a trail of sweat on my shirt! (I look sexy all sweaty! LOL). but seriously, good work out indeed!!!

You sexy thing Pilotgal! Love that sweaty look! I tried the weight thing with walking but I hate holding anything when I'm walking, it just annoys me. LOL Good for you.

Hi Xena, Pilotgal

I'm trying to stay on plan and walk everyday for the 115 days which will take me to my birthday. This is the best I've done so far, 2 days cheatfree!!!

Xena I'm not familiar with your terminology -bituman or bush track. I walk on a natural dirt trail. The name of the trial is Viperway. At times I will see rattlesnakes daily. I can't walk in July/August when they calf because hearing hundreds of rattles going off freaks me out. The snakes I've encountered have been happy to give me the right of way. I used to be afraid of them but they haven't been aggressive. I enjoy the other wildlife immensely. Lots of rabbits, coyotes, my friend has seen a wildcat and last week there was a fox on the trail.

Be careful, I carry my cell phone when I walk because of the crazy humans as much as the wildlife.

Pilotgal do you mean you have the weights that strap on your ankles or weights that you carry?

I'm off to walk now.
Nancy

Bitumen is what they make our roads out of and bush track is the same as your dirt trail I imagine. I do carry my mobile phone with me whenever I walk too.

I just walked another 1.2 kilometres in 20 minutes.

That's:

3.7 miles
1.5 miles
1.2 miles

Keep walking!

I found these little hand held weights at a garage sale for $3. About 2-3 lbs each. Very very light... until you start walking. But i'm working the whole upper body while walking a good brisk 3.5 mph for 60 min. I expect dramatic results from my December photo's!!!!!!

Nawchem great! Yeah I love walking in the warm sun during the day. I get really p*ssed off when it's overcast or raining although I still walk.

Hey Nawchem and Pilotgal! How are you both going? Pilotgal the weights are great. I do weights 3x weekly, upper and lower body. You will feel and see the difference in no time.

Just got back from my walk. Boy, is it warm out there today; 30 degrees celsius. I managed to do 35 minutes and another 1.8 miles.

Miles clocked: 8.2

Keep up the walking gals!

Pilotgal thats a really cool workout with the weights. I would probably crack my skull open trying to walk and swing weights around at the same time. I need to get into weight lifting. I'm recovering from a back injury so after walking and doing physical therapy exercises I run out of time for much more.

Xena I'm so glad you started this thread. It makes me walk and I've cheatfree since we started.

Walked 4 miles today
total: 10 miles

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Just wanted to comment briefly; my weights are so light... but when you walk with them, they give you quite a workout. I was also going to say, I live in south Florida, and i walk along a golf course, where's it's always cooler because of the lushness. I don't own a pedometer, but i time myself. Its a lovely walk, and I am working hard on my flabby arms that wave when i lift my arms!! HA HA!!! (my arms wave before my hands!) hahahahahahaaha. I'm glad we have this thread also. I can't wait for my Dec pictures!
