Question Newbie! HEY... How do I eat Thai and not let my friends find out I am dieting?

HI all,

Am new to this forum, so pleased to meet you all and I have found the shared information very useful.

I have been following the atkins diet for the last 4 days after doing the induction about six weeks ago and then going on holiday.... well you know the rest...

I now realise that my problem is not eating at home but when I go out with friends. I have a Thai dinner and then drinks, maybe clubbing... Then on Thursday dinner, drinks and clubbing. I have started drinking Michelob Ultra or Vodka and DC, but by 3am I end up eating a pile of junk food on route home.

Anyone have any tips for stopping the I drank more than four beers carb downward spiral?

I also don't want my friends to know I am on a diet as they will either be overly supportive or tell me one day will not matter.

I guess what I am trying to say is, how do you keep a social life, not be the picky eater person and still stick to atkins.

Hi Andy,

I think the best way to cope with eating out is planning ahead. Knowing beforehand what is "allowed" and what isn't should help.

Have a look here at the suggestions on dining out from the Atkins website.

I'm not sure anyone but you can help with the junk-food-on-the-way-home situation. It will obviously help to drink less. How about trying to drink more slowly - maybe have some mineral water between drinks?
And maybe if you just plain tell yourself that it won't happen this time? I do know that once you have succeeded once, the next time will be easier.

All the best!

Rosebud
