Talking Woohooooo!!!!!

Well, I finally had a loss. I'm down exactly 3 pounds, which means I have lost - in total: 80 POUNDS!!!!!!

I was very discouraged last week, and I hung in, knowing I would see a loss. Sometimes it is difficult when you seem to be stuck at the same weight for awhile - I am basically only 10 pounds to the good since the end of May, including this 3 pounds. How frustrating!!

But for others that are struggling, just realize that even if you are losing slowly for now, chances are you will speed up. From the time I started losing weight, between June-September last year, I lost 40 pounds, and had a long stall until February, gaining & losing the same 10 pounds. Then, I lost 30 pounds within a 2 1/2 month time frame before this long stall, in which I lost only 10 pounds since the end of May. Bodies are strange sometimes, and may need time to adjust. Keep it up, and it will come. They add up, even if slowly, and if I had just quit during that time, chances are I would be back at 322 right now. I try to keep it all in perspective.

Thanks for being here for me, and I am ever grateful I found this site.

Diana

Default Way To Go!!!!

Way to GO!!!

Patience and persistence always helps. I would have been right back where I started had I relied on what the scale said to keep me motivated.

Remember this....the weight is leaving much faster than it arrived. It took me 15 years to gain a hundred pounds and I have almost lost 80 lbs in less than a year. I figure I am 14 years to the good. LOL!

Keep up the tremendous progress! You are an inspiration!
Be blessed,
Tanya

Thanks for posting you guys!

It really is inspiring to see that people really can lose a lot of weight with this WOE.

I try to tell myself that if I just hang in there, the weight will continue to come off. THe problem is my stress level has gone up as school as started up again, I am a part time grad student. and I am finding that I still want to use food to cope with the stress level....

THe next two weeks are the worst as I will be working extra hours at work, and have some social commitments that I can't back off from, however if I get through 2 weeks, then I will reduce my hours at work again, and I will actually have some time to do things like... oh study??

I just have to be gentle with myself and hang in there.
Thanks again.
Together we can do it.
Rena

Default What an inspiring post

Congratulations on your loss. 80 pounds is a wonderful achievement. And thank you so much for your insightful post. I am having a lot of trouble losing and gaining the same 10 pounds after a 50 pound loss. But I'm sticking with it. Something has got to give and it won't be my resolve. I'm worth it and my body is too.

We can't predict when and how much we are going to lose. There are so many factors beyond our control. All we can do is stay on program, drink water, exercise, and have patience. It also helps to remember how far we've come, rather than how far we have to go. I've lost 50 out of a proposed 150 pounds. I'm a third there. This is phase two. I'm not on the bunny slopes anymore. I'm on the intermediate, and the going is a lot tougher. I imagine I'll fall more and it will take me longer to master these slopes. But after this 50 pounds, I'll be up at the top of the mountain on my way to the Olympics. Now how's that for taking a metaphor a loooooooooong way. But you get my drift.

Again, you've done a great job. Happy dance.

Default Thanks!!!

I really appreciate all the congrats - I'm soaking it all up!

Ketodiva, love the correlation between weight loss and skiing - you put a lot of thought into that, and it obviously makes sense that the going gets harder when you have less weight to lose. I have noticed it was easy going the first 40 pounds - I did nothing and lost weight. Now, I work out, am careful with what I eat, and I stall. Well, here's to perserverance!

Diana

Congratulations!

I lost very steadily until I hit about 80 pounds off. Then my weight loss really slowed down. However, it has been picking up again for the last few weeks (four pounds in three weeks). We can't control how fast we lose, but I guarantee that any of us who stick to this will weigh less at the end of the year than the folks who decide it is too slow and give up!

Congratulation Diana. It gets tough when things slow down - great job working through that.

Ketodiva - I loved your comparison - it really brightened the picture for me. I don't think I'll need a gold medal - I'll settle for a bronze!
