Question Ketosis ??

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how long it usually takes once you start LCing before you see a difference in the strips. I bought the strips a while ago and have tried them a number of times just to see what my results would be. They always showed Negative. I just started LCing yesterday and my strips are already showing light purple. Is that a good sign? I also feel awful and wasn't expecting that to start for a few days, could that be from starting the plan or...?? I feel light-headed, weak (like I'm going to pass out), and I have a headache as well. I should probably also mention that most of my food consumption consisted of Carbs prior to starting the plan.

Thanks in advance for any replies,
Tristy74

That sick feeling is almost definitely your body going through "carb withdrawal" - it WILL pass in a few days! Hang in there! As for the strips, I never had any luck with those myself, so I can't answer that question. Make sure you are taking some supplements also -- a good multivitamin for sure and I know a lot of people here suggest calcium and magnesium too. Good luck to you!

You May Not Be Felling To Good Today, But In A Few, You'll Be Feeling Better Than Ever. Don't Worry Too Much About The Strips, All They Can Do Is Give You An Idea If You Are In Ketosis. If You Drink Too Little Or Too Much Water They May Not Even Be Accurate.

Hi Tristy

I to think that you are suffering from carb withdrawl as your body changes over to being a fat burner. Hang on in there. The next couple of days may feel a little strange. Make sure you drink plenty of water and do eat your veg. Make sure you get around 20 g of carbs. This is not a no carb way of life.

With regard to ketosis and the strips. How soon is shows can vary a lot and for some people it never seems to register at all. As already said they are only a guide and hence don't worry to much about them. You are in ketosis. Don't try to get the strips to go darker, there is no need.
