Default Why isn't the South Beach Diet featured on this site ?

Saw Dr. Arthur Agaston on Dateline NBC Friday 8/15. His diet is hot hot hot. It's a straightup rip off on Atkins. Seems like the diet would be featured on this site. Hell, maybe it is and I missed it. just my 2 cents.

The author states clearly in the very first sentence of the very first chapter in the book that it's "not a low carb diet".

I have purchased the SBD book, and am mystified why people are comparing it to Atkins?? since Agatston condemns Atkins' diet and villifies saturated fat. The program is low calorie, lower fat, higher carb program based on the Glycemic Index. After the 2 week Phase 1 part, It is similar in many ways to Sugar Busters.

...and Sugar Busters has it's own forum here.

While it isn't ultra low-carb, it seems as though it would fit in just as well as SB, The Zone and BFL. I'm surprised that a forum hasn't been created for it.

Exclamation

Now that you mention it, I just borrowed the latest edition of SugarBusters from the libaray, and the authors of that book make it clear that it's NOT a low-carb program either. And also state that fat intake is to be kept low .. no more than 30% of total calories. Hmmm .....

Personally, I think that both of them (Sugar Busters and South Beach) say that they aren't LC because a) you get more carbs than "traditional" LC and b) they hope to avoid attack. I know people on the SBD who eat in a way that could be considered LC (and they identify with LC). I don't know if people on SB feel of it that way or not.
