Default Return to Atkins, an Epic

Hi Everyone!

I've just started back on Atkins (yesterday), and I am already feeling the crunch. I'm an absolute bread-junkie (don't care much for rice or pasta), so this is pretty much pergatory for me. I did the Atkins back in 2000, when I had gotten up to 180 pounds (my heaviest), and I lost 35 pounds pretty quickly in about 2 months.

Since then, I gained back every single pound because of lack of exercise, stress and of course a poor diet. Since 2002, however, I've been an exercise fiend! I lift weights at least 4 times a week and I do cardio just as much. I actually work in a gym, so this makes it easier for me to do what I am suppose to. Plus, I teach an outdoor cardio calisthenics class. With all of this, I've lost 20-25 pounds - My weight fluctuates 5 pounds or so.

I guess now, I really want to go in for the long haul and get down to the size/weight that I want to be, which is 3 sizes smaller and 20-25 pounds lighter. I'm hoping that this site will provide me with some encouragement as I go through the next 12 days of induction.

Thanks everyone!

Hi and welcome!

I've totally lost all interest in bread. Maybe because I used to work at a Subway and just had yeasty/bready scent overload!

...or it could just be the fact that I'm distracted by the prime rib, scrambled eggs, baked salmon and butter oozing off my vegetables.

That outdoor cardio class sounds like fun! I hate being inside a gym in summer. Y'know, with all the working out you do, you could easily afford some occasional bread once you're in maintenance.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks so much for responding, Kristine! It looks like we have similar stats and goals.

Funny thing about bread and bread products is that I am all or nothing right now. Thus, it makes it really hard for me to think of having just a slice or a bit. I've cut everything pretty much out or as they say here, I'm "leaning out." It's going to be torture, but I need the discpline.

Looking forward to any more tips that you may have!

Thanks
