Default 14lb loss

Lost 14pd in 6 weeks. That was about 2 weeks ago, but I didn't know how to start a new thread or update my profile. I've had to slow down my exercise because my hip's playing up. I'm having acupuncture and physio and its improving. No loss for the last 2 weeks. Waiting for a woosh. I'll take my measurements tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Does anyone know about lactolose, I've been prescribed it as a laxative, but I'm worried it might be milk sugar.
My doctor doesn't think Atkins is too bad. (High Praise).

Lastly I know I don't have 100+ to loose but you all seem so supportive so I'm claiming oldies rights. Anyway my 72lb total is going to be hard at my age (72), so I'll need lots of support.

Exclamation Welcome Oldie

Sorry that I don't know anything about lactolose. Usually anything ending in -ose is sugar based, but hopefully your doctor took that into account since he knew you were low-carbing.

To update your profile, click on the profile icon to the right of the "This is sugar-free zone at the top of the screen. Then click the 'edit profile' option; make your changes; and click 'submit' on the bottom.

Good luck with your measurements tomorrow!

Hi there, and welcome.
About the lactulose, it is a high sugar content...do you really need to take it?? If you increase your water intake you may find that things work well down south...lol
And lots of saladetc.
Good luck with it and with the diet...hope to see you around lots

Good for you Oldie.

The best is yet to come.

Tell me about your acupuncture for your hip. I too have a lot of pain in my hip. Been going to chiropractor, taking meds, etc. but still limping around and not able to excercise. Doctors say it is my sciatic nerve. I am curious if acupuncture would help relieve the pain.

Thank you,

Default thanks

thank you all for your support ,I am not a very good typistI usually get my daughter to do it for me but here goes .first of all the acupuncture,it is called muscle acupuncture and it is done with long needles. I have had about four lots a week apart and it seems to be working, have three more to go,it is a bit painful but I think its worth it.
The pharmacy seems to think that the lactose is okay for me so that is fine, I drink that much water and I walked five Ks this morning so I am doing that part right I hope. well this has taken along time to type so I will say goodnight all

Great news on the weight loss. You may be an OLDIE but you are definately a GOODIE. Congratulations!
About the pain in your hip? I managed to get myself wounded in the foot, the knee, and the "hip" playing Army back during the last century. (Woof! Now I feel like an OLDIE but not so GOODIE!)
Let me know how your acupuncture goes please.
My wife says nothing will work for me as I was born a pain in the ***.
Best wishes for your continued success!

Thumbs up Welcome and Congrats!

Way to go on the 14 pounds! As for laxative, perhaps try a spoonful of ground flax seed meal - if I recall it has the same number of carbs and fiber per serving, so in essence they cancel each other out. That's what Dr. Atkins recommends in DANDR if memory serves. Either that or psyllium husks. Either one will do the trick! Take care, keep coming back and keep on trucking!
