Default New to TDC Mothers Day

I've read your forum a few times now. You're all a really supportive bunch and I love your sense of humour. So this is where I'd like to be.
I'm doing Atkins and I'm finding it really slow, but I'm getting there so managing to stick to it so far (5 weeks-7lbs).

It was mothers day here and in Australia yesterday, I had phone call from oldest son (in Oz) by 1pm (11am his time). But nothing from youngest by 10pm our time (he is also in Oz but different part). This of course is totally unacceptable. YOU HAVE TO PHONE YOUR MUM ON MOTHERS DAY. So I rang up to tell him. Phone call went like this
Him "Yuh", Me " You haven't phoned your mum, you should be ashamed", Him " I did phone my mum", Me " Well I certainly didn't get any call from you", Him " Well you're not my mum".
You guessed it wrong number. Many embarressed apologies on my part. I know I should recognise my own kids voice but one Yuh sounds much like another. Anyway whoever he was wished me happy mothers day. And I stopped being mad so I didn't need to eat a cake of choccy.
Actually when I think about it I probably wouldn't have had a big emotional eat, because I'm just not interested in heaps of carbs since I've been doing Atkins, which is really weird for me.

Default Welcome to the group

Hello and welcome to the group.
I've only been here about a week and it is a great place to come and not be judged.

So glad you have decided to join in.

I appreciated your reply to my post about "confessions."

Don't be too sad about your son not calling on Mothers Day.
There have been several times I've forgotten to do this with my mother. I think that until a child becomes a parent, they don't truly understand how important these things are.

Congrats on not bingeing.

Hi Feather and welcome to this forum and the TDC.

Great that you did not binge. You will probably see the funny side to your phone call now. Hope that your younger son rings soon. Did they send a card?

I wish you every success.

Woops sorry, I wasn't sad, just really laughing at myself. And pleased that I didn't want to go binging. Very apologetic message on phone from son today, so I hope to catch up with him soon. Thanks for all your concern and good luck this week.

Hi Feather and welcome,

That is a funny story! How great that you didn't even consider an emotional carb binge. Isn't low carbing wonderful?

Wecome Feather,
This is a great group...can't even begin to tell you how supportive they are...and fun to chat with. I love it when I come on and find lots of messages in my journal. It makes my day...have to confess that I have become a forum junkie...always here and looking around...and it is the first thing I do when i get home..lol
Happy Low Carbing

Welcome, feather!

I hope you'll be able to look back on your story about Mother's Day with a chuckle. It's really pretty funny!

Anyway, I hope we'll see more of you around here and that the young one calls his Mum!

Donald

Default Welcome...keep coming back!

Just wanted to say "Hi" and welcome aboard. If ever you're frustrated or need to rant, this is the place. It had kept me from reaching for the cookies on more than one occasion. I always tell myself, I didn't get this way overnight, it's not going to come off overnight...just have to keep plugging away.
