Default cornstarch alternative?

Does anyone know an altermative to cornstarch? I am hoping to come up with a recipe for something like general so's chicken with splenda (good luck to me since I couldn't even make it turn out right using sugar and cornstarch!) The problem is I don't have a lot of specialty stores around here like a lot of you do. I know there's lucky people who have low carb stores and such but I just have the regular grocery stores.... safeway, fred meyer, etc.

anyone?

Katie

Talking thicken/not starch

Hi Katie, I use thicken/not starch. I have had the same bag for 8 months so it lasts a long time. You might have to order it over the internet. Maybe a health food store will have an alternative.

Good luck HL

You might be able to get guar gum in a health food store.

I haven't used it myself but when I compare brands, the kinds that don't have modified food starch have guar gum instead, and a lower carb count
