Default Calling Koko (great revelation about SP diet)

Hi Koko,

I saw you 'jumped ship' over from the Montignac forum. I have been doing the montignac (and also somersizing woe) and just started to realise how it all worked (with the GI thing) when I stumbled across the SP woe.

My mother was on the same diet as me (montignac/somersizing) and had stalled for the longest time. Then she started to cheat (not with BAD foods like white sugar or other refined foods), but she cheated by adding some carbs to her protein meals (chick peas, lentils, potato now and again and other "non-legal" carbs with a protein meal).

The funny thing is, after about 2 months of stalling, she finally cracked the scales and lost a couple of pounds!! I know this isn't much, but ask anyone who cannot go that final 2 pounds and it's like the greatest thing in the world. So in effect she was following the SP woe and didn't even realise it. She stumbled upon it by accident. We tried EVERYTHING before - LESSENING her carb intake, drinking more water, lowering her calorie intake, but nothing worked. The secret was her cheating and eating the carbs with her protein meals, just like Schwarbein recommends.

For me, I would prefer to stay on montignac but not food combine as strictly as i used to. Think I'll start adding carbs to my protein meals. How about you - have you stopped montignacing altogether, or have you incorporated bits of it into your SP diet?

Right now I'm avoiding anything that wasn't allowed on Montignac (cooked carrots for one) and I think I'm doing SP but don't have my book yet so I could be messing up a bit. I still try to avoid snacks as Montignac suggests and although I have switched to whole milk yogurt as Scwhartzbein wants I am limiting the quantities to keep the fat low - but still using good oils like olive and butter.

From what I can figure out the main differences between Montignac and Schwarzbein are the food combining and the full fat products versus skim milk products. Both plans rely on whole unprocessed foods.

I feel very full when I eat a meal with the carbs/protein/fat combo, considering that most protein has some fat in it I think you might find the same with a protein/carb meal. Hope it works for you, keep me up to date on your progress
