Default Question about cod liver oil

I recently picked up a bottle of cod liver oil after reading the recommendation for it is PPLP. While I enjoyed the information the book gives about Omega-3's and cod liver oil, I can't see that it offers any real recommendation on how much to take every day (admittedly, I haven't finished the book yet).

They do talk about maintaining a 2:1 ratio of Omega-6's to Omega-3's. However, the recommended doseage on the back of the bottle I bought is one teaspoon a day. I'm a little nervous about exceeding that... one teaspoon contains around 100% of the RDA for Vitamins A & D, I'm already taking a multivitamin, so I might really overdo it easily taking too much. At the same time, maintaining a 2:1 ratio would mean I'd need to cut my other fat intake down to two teaspoons' worth a day! That sounds unlikely on any diet based on anything beyond canned tuna for three meals a day.

I guess I'm just wondering how other PP'ers manage their overall fat intake, and particularly the quantity of cod liver oil used.

My body shudders to think of cod liver oil.

As a very young child we were force fed it at school. A 10ml spoon (it could have been a 5ml spoon but I was very small and the spoon looked very large) loomed towards me brimming with the evil liquid

We had to hold our nose and swallow it down.

It was so upsetting for me. Made me gag and splutter it all over the administrator, my poor teacher.

In the end I had a note from my Mother and was excused oil.

I think the dose is still the same. Just don't bring it near me.

Don't think that disguising it in a capsule can fool me either.

I do take a teaspoon full of cod liver oil every day, I buy the Dale Alexander brand of Norwegian cod liver oil and keep it in the refrigerator. I find the taste very mild and a far cry from the stale fishy stuff that I also had as a child in the 40's. I prefer this to any capsules and I find no aftertaste and no "repeating" from this oil in this quantity.
I take it to keep the balance of omega 3 at least at a better level since most of my protein is animal based and much of my additional fat is olive oil and butter

I had been taking Dale (Anderson's?) Fish Oil Caps. Some days no problem, other days I would burp repeatedly and it tasted like a bad day at the beach. I tossed 'em and bought the Carlson's Lemon Flavor like the Eades recommend in PPLP. I have been taking 2 tsp every day.

I didn't realize that I might be overdoing the A & D. There's no D in my multi and the only A is in the form of beta carotene. So could this still be of concern?
