Smile Newbie intro

Just a quick intro. I bought Dr. Atkins book for Mother's Day for myself and am getting through it quickly. I'm hoping this is something I can really incorporate into my life. Have been on a dedicated workout/training schedule since Feb. The first time in years and seeing results.

I'm not too sure what to say, but here it goes.

I'm 32, about 80lbs overweight (I think) and ready for a change. My weight gain came with children and unemployment. I am a healthy woman and the working out is really great! I'm at the gym 3-4 times a week and working with a personal trainer 2xs a week. I think my weight isn't going down because I am trading fat weight for muscle weight. That's okay with me but I know my eating habits need help.

I've been through WW and Slimfast with no results and a thinner purse.

Well, how is that for short and sweet. I'm sure I'll have more later.

Selina

Hi Selina, welcome!

Have you measured yourself yet? Always a good idea, 'specially when you're replacing that fat with muscle (yay!). Another measuring method is what we call the "pantometer" - a garment that is currently too small to wear comfortably. Feels great when you can wear it!

All the best to you!

Talking measurements

I have measured myself - every month with my trainer. I've kept off 5 lbs but have lost about 14 inches total! I can actually see my biceps, lost the bra clump (near underarm), strengthened my legs and don't get winded walking the hill to work! I still have a long way to go but I feel so much healthier.

I've used the pantometer also! Actually, shirtometer would best describe it. I no longer have to unbutton the last button on my blouse when I sit down and all my tops fit so much better. I can even wear my shorts again with no problem.

Thanks for the welcome.

Selina
