Default Pure Delight Dark Chocolate Bar.

Holy smokes. One of the best dark chocolates I have ever tasted. I make a point to only get one a week because I would eat to much of it.

Post Pure Delight Dark Chocolate Bars

Does anyone know if these bars have any hidden carbs in them?

It is unbelievable that they are only 1.1g. Please post your thoughts on this.

If it is truly 1.1g of carbs then I would give it 5 thumbs up, but I am waiting for the responses from you guys.

These bars although tasty have malitol- a sugar alcohol as an ingredient.

This stalls a lot of us (myself included) and cause stomach distress for a lot of us as well.

If you want.. try them but if you stall weightloss - this is the first thing to lose from your diet.

All the best.

Default Maltitol

I believe it is best to avoid Maltitol; at least while in OWL. It seems that it can really stall out some people. For the most part it's probably wise to avoid sweets in general for a while, until the emotional issues are brought under control. I'm in no hurry to have to make such decisions.

Good Luck!

Default So Sad!!

Oh I was going to post in another thread...Canadian low-carb chocolate but I came across this thread.
I have been looking for Ross Chocolate for the last month!!!
Found them last night and Oh yea they taste great!!! Sweetened with Malitol.
I am looking at the Almond bar. On the front cover they say 3.9 carbs. On the back it claims total carb as 17.7g at the bottom...
*Carbohydrates in the Malitol which impact on the blood sugar/insulin levels is neglible; total 13.8g. Net impact carbs 3.9g

I ate half a bar last night and although I am recuperating from surgery I feel kinda gassy and my bowel is crampy.
Do you think this is the result of Malitol????

Anybody, where do you get the chocolate bars? Sounds great and I do miss chocolate.

I do make the dark chocolate treat posted on the forum. It's delicious!

Yep, that's probably from the maltitol. There's an excellent article on the TIPS page on sugar alcohols (and one on sweeteners), see the orange menu bar above. There's TONS of posts here, too. See the thread called Our Real World Poll on
Sugar Alcohols ...

Default Thanks Islandgirl!

I try to stay away from all the artificial sweeteners but I guess all the talk about chocolate was just too much for me!
I did finally find the Ross at Alive Health food in White Rock! I think you had suggested them.
It was very nice chocolate though and as long as we watch those carbs, I am sure a little piece now and then is better than the full sugar version.
See you all around!

Pure delight is quite good. Another EXCELLENT company is Ashers chocolates and La Nouba, both are definately a cut above the average generics like CarboLite etc IMHO. We sell TONS of Pure Delight though, hey whats not to like belgium chocolate rocks!

Kindest Regards,

LoneInAz

Ps: The cramping is definately malititol related, if I eat some of this stuff I can barely stand myself at work haha.. You want to watch some of those products, CarboLite Jelly Beans for example, nearly ALL maltitol and a half of bag had me so cramped I wanted to die, heck we don't need weapons to fight a war, drop cases of carbolite jelly beans and the enemy would'nt be able to fight...

Honestly, it was only after my mom tried (and loved) these bars that I decided to try Atkins. I was too scared to try a diet that I couldn't have any sweets.

Funny enough, I haven't even wanted any though! My mom bought the whole box of Dark Chocolate at Walgreens last week. I did eat one my first day (I was starving that day!) but haven't had one since then.

They are very good though!

I tried one yesterday... and it was great.

The sugar alcohols do make me gassy.. but being on glucophage also does this.. so it's hard to tell. They don't stall me though.. thank god.

I have found a site which I feel is the cheapest and pretty quick with their deliveries as well.

It is at :http://www.ross-chocolates.com/
