Default Ack! Steroids!

Ok anybody taken steroids ( the 5 days cycle pack thingie) and gained? I am soo scared of this happening. But i gotta take them.

I'm having this terrible allergic reaction on my ear from god knows what. Doc said he thinks it's a spider bite or something. Anyway my ear is like x2 the size of my normal one ( and red and painful as all heck) lol glad my hair is long and covers it!

So I have to take the steroid for 5 days (they gave me a shot in the office), umm an antibiotic for 10 days and Alegra (antihistimine) for 10 days. I hope this won't make me gain too much :/

Any experiences from you veterans with any of these things?

Thanks guys!

I had to take Prednisone and my apetite increased but low carbing REALLY helped me I gained a little bit of weight since I was eating more frankenfoods and junk, but I am doing better now.

This is a lifetime commitment and these meds are just a minor setback, do the best you can and just keep going. In the longrun, it isnt that big of a deal.

Do the best you can and dont sweat it. It isnt a competition to lose weight fast. You are changing the way you eat and learning to be healthier and you have the rest of your life to get past this 5 day setback.

Good luck, and I hope your allergy gets better. It doesnt sound fun. I would be much more concerned about having 2 normal sized ears :-)

Frequently water gain is caused by steroids also....but usually only when you're on it longer than a few weeks.

If you do gain tho, don't get discouraged, it will go away once you stop the med.

I took prednisone too, but a lot of the gain was water. I also took a water pill daily. I wasn't on Atkins at the time so I gained 20 lbs. in 2 months.

Why don't you get some wild oregano oil. It's good for poisons and allergic reactions. You can use it both internally and externally. Here's some information on it.

My dd has to take prednisone several times a year.. she usually gets very puffy during and right after, but the weight eventually comes off. I think it is much more difficult when you are on steroids long term.

Good luck, Kandi

Antibiotics stalled me for the 10 days I had to take them. I gained 3 lbs. I finished the course over the weekend, and have lost 2 lbs. Hopefully I'm back on track now.
