Default Low Carb Frozen Dinners :)

I know this isn't the place to post this but I get the feeling that everyone checks here first and the other forums threads rarely get checked by most of us, so I am trying to make everyone aware of this great new product. I am going to paraphrase from another Low Carb forum where I found this information.

Super Walmart now carries 11 oz frozen dinners called: CHEF'S CHOICE which are a *LOW CARB FROZEN DINNER.* TOTAL CARBS 10-12 TOTAL FIBER 4. EFFECTIVE CARBS 6-8.
4 FLAVORS:
Mexican Pork, Chicken Cacciatore, Chicken Primavera and Garlic Beef and Broccoli.
They are $2.19 a dinner.
Checked with company to see on availability at other stores and their response was: "no other stores are going to carry them in the foreseeable future". So it looks like Super Wal-Mart is the place right now. (My opinion is that many LC companies are having difficulty getting their products carried in stores and they urge us to make the managers and corporates aware of this need!)
The concensus from the other forum is that they taste very good and are perfect if you need something on the run to take to work for lunch or such.

BTW, Slim Fast has LC bars now but I didn't buy any.

Wow, how nice that would be -- I miss just popping a dinner in the microwave after a long long day and not having to give dinner any thought - oh well, when I'm having a day like that, I make a bunch of little clams casino (10 mins to prep and cook).

can of clams (drained)
divide evenly into 6 tinfoil muffin tins
put a half strip of bacon in each one
top with parmasean cheese
bake at 350 for about 5-7 mins.

Enjoy.

Oh how I wish I had a Super Walmart near me! Mine does not carry frozen foods ... I'd like to have these on hand when I am in need for a quick, convenient meal. Oh well...perhaps someday.

I was walking down the frozen food aisle in Wally World just yesterday, mainly to waste time since I hardly ever buy anything from that aisle anymore, and I saw these dinners. I saw the front, but didn't think to check out the effective carbs. I was a bit turned off b/c at 10 carbs per meal there goes hal;f my allowance for the day...but if there is only 6-8, I could manage that...

My daughter likes these meals. I was going to try one today, was getting ready to set it up in my fitday. Then I got a look at the sodium count. 1570mg Wow! I will admit that stopped me from trying it. The carbs are good, but I don't want to step on the scale tomorrow and see the water weight show up for all the salt.

For those of you without Super Walmart (like myself). This is what I do.

When I am on a trip out of town by car (either to Vegas, 2 hours or Phoenix, 4 hours) I take a cooler. At the Super Walmart in Scottsdale, I get a bag of ice and load the cooler up with items I REALLY want. That is what I am going to do this time around with the frozen dinner so I can get some of what I want. I just make sure that Super Walmart is my lst stop on my way out of town (if I feel really frugal, I'll load up on ice that is free at the hotel I had to pay $60 for

We have a Super Walmart about 45 minutes away from us but I never have ANY reason to go to that town, so I often forget about it being there.

We have a Super Walmart, but I haven't had a chance to go look for these yet... thanks for reminding me. Guess I will have to comb the frozen foods again.

found them... I THINK the carbs on the front are not the net effective carbs (may need to contact the company to be sure though). At first, I didn't get any to try... they were 3 something and just a little bowl. But tonight I was in the mood to not cook and so I picked up some Kid's Cuisine for the kiddo and grabed the Chicken Cacciatore. I will say that it was pretty good, and since there isn't rice or pasta, I guess a little bowl isn't too bad at that price.

Not something I would eat on a regular basis, but I did enjoy it as a quick fix, and it was rather hearty.

Thanks for pasting this info along. There is a Super Wal-Mart just down the street. It would be nice to have a few on hand for emergencies.

So I bought 2 different types tonight to eat at work. I already tried the Garlic Beef and Broccoli. MMMMMMM it was sooo good. The broccoli was a bit soft, but soooo yummy, and for 5 net carbs!
I would definately recommend.

Keep one or two in the freezer for those times when you don't have time to cook.

Just be happy that you all have a super walmart,,

Us down here in Canada, have Walmart only,,
no frozen foods, or fresh either.

If I could buy frozen meals, Id be so there.

Also,

Has anyone tried the Zone, its sipposed to be goos, and the carbs are around 10-30 per meal, depending on your stats,,

I have been considering trying the zone,

Have you looked at the ingredients on those things? I bought 2 without completely reading the label. Went to eat one, read the ingreadients list and threw it in the garbage. I don't need to load my body with a bunch of unnecessary chemicals. I have enough problems already!
