Arrow How are test strips for ketosis read?

Hello frineds,

I started on the Atkins diet monday. On Wednesday I tested for Ketosis and the results were positive on a MODERALTE LEVEL. The test strips have a gradient as follows:

Negative
Trace 5
Small 15
Moderate 40
Large 80
Large 160

What is the ideal level of ketosis under the Atkin's diet? I am only testing at the modrate level.

Thanks,

Martin

Trace and up means you are in ketosis. Too dark means you are dehydrated.

Congrats!

After reading many threads about this subject, I think most people would tell you that any change on the keto stick is a good thing. When do you test? I almost always do it in the morning- when your urine is the most concentrated. My strips are usually dark then, but lighter if I test later in the day. I can also tell where my keto lies by the lovely taste in my mouth!!
Good luck!
