Question need variety beverages

Howdy all,

New guy here, day 15 of induction and 12(!) pounds lighter

Quick question: what do y'all drink besides water?

Coming from the Southern US, sweetened iced tea and mile were my drinks of choice. But, if I'm understanding right, black tea isn't recommended because of the caffeine and thiobromide, and milk is just right out.

What cool/cold beverages do you folks consume? Never was a coffee drinker, and herb tea is nice, but I prefer cold beverages.

Thanks for all the good info and discussion here, this is a gem of a site. Kadu's to the staff.

I like water with lemon slice and sweetner. I also drink decaf tea with sweetner. I lived in the south for a long time and did miss the sweetened tea so I make pitchers of this. I think diet rite is ok too. But water is the best for starters. Don'y for get to drink it. It will help with the weight loss.

Hi Bear,
Congratulations on the weight loss!
I also make pitchers of decaf tea and sweeten it with Splenda. I've also found a sparkling water drink called "Sparkling Ice" which is made by a company called "Talking Rain". I buy it here at Costco (not sure if you guys have Costco in the States) but I found their website and it looks like they do distribute in the US... there's a store locator that you could use to find some in your area. Here's the website: http://www.talkingrain.com/

It comes in 4 flavours and I find them very delicious. They aren't an everyday thing, because they do have some carbs, but it's nice to have another option!!

Who said that Herb tea can't be cold. I know a lot of people that I talk to only think of Herb tea as being hot, I like mine cold. I make it just like any other tea and sweeten it as needed. You can mix them too.

Cold or hot water with just lemon tastes really good. No sweetener.I find it easier to drink than plain water. Also, hot water with lemon is a great diuretic. Anne Louise Gittelman recommends it in her Fat Flush Plan.

I drink diet A&W Root Beer and coffee (regular).
I also drink water and splenda based ice tea.

I have never had any problems with coffee, tea, or diet pops, so don't assume you will because Atkins said you might. Experiement for yourself.

Heh, forgot to mention I never cared for soda/pop *before* atkins, so I wasn't considering it as a cold beverage option.

I drink a lot of iced tea with lemon. If I want it sweet - I use Splenda. I have also made lemonade with fresh lemon juice and Splenda mixed with ice water. I drank that all summer with no problems.

I just purchased some *Sassafras tea* and it is sooooo GOOD! It's not easy to find...but so worth it if you like the flavor of rootbeer.

Besides that I drink Diet Rite and A/W diet rootbeer.

But mostly I drink water..by the time I get all my required water in I'm usually not to interested in beverages..

anyways..you gotta try the sassafras tea..

Kroger now carries Soy Slender in vanilla, chocolate, and cappucino flavors. It's not a real substitute for milk, as it is sweet, but I love the chocolate and the cappucino flavors and it's a good way to get calcium. Made with Splenda, only 1 net carb per 8 ounce glass.

HTH.

I like to drink sugar free cherry kool-aid. It really quenches your thirst. I even got my husband on it.

The diet root beer IS great! Another two great sodas are diet cherry coke and diet ginger ale. Hope Im not missing where someone mentioned this, but Carb Countdown milk is very good. It tastes the same as regular milk because it is milk. It just has 3c vs 13c.

Keto makes these carb coolers that I like. Cranberry and pink lemonade are my favorites. They have lot of nutriants as well. Seems kind of expensive at first glance but a bottle makes lots to drink.
