Default Stupid Question about "starvation mode'

From the way I was eating the past 2 weeks, I deffinetly got to be in starvation mode..
I've been drinking atleast 32oz of water, for the past few days and that dosen't seem to be helping with losing water weight..

And I've been eating small meals every couple of hours.. And drinking 1-2 protein shakes a day...

I'm just wondering how do you get out of it without gaining more weight? I don't want to like come out of nowhere and eat 17,000 cals and my body stores it as fat....

And yes, I feel stupid asking this cause I shouldn't have gotten here in the first place.

The only way to get out of starvation mode is to keep eating at 10-12x levels....for you probably 1400-1500/day. Gotta convince your metabolism that the food is plentiful and readily available!!

32 oz. of water a day is only half of the MINIMUM recommended amount you should be drinking... 64 oz++!!! Keep your counts on fitday and plan your meals!!

Maybe you'd benefit by re-reading Atkins or another plan at this time. Sounds like you're a little rusty!!

Hi Slim,

Do you recall the term "metabolic advantage" from Dr Atkins' book? He explains it in Chapter 7.

We all know that to lose weight we need to expend more energy than we take in. So how can we eat a minimum of 10-12x our body weight and still lose weight?

Basically, burning fat takes up more energy so you can eat more calories and still lose weight.

And about the water...
You need to be drinking a minimum of 64oz a day. The more water you drink, the more easily you will lose retained water.

I'm not sure why you "feel silly" about asking questions. This forum is all about supporting each other by asking and answering questions, so do feel free to ask away!

All the best!

Keep in mind that the 'starvation response' generally takes weeks to set in - one or two weeks of eating lowered calories doesn't cut it for most of us (there are of course those who have very messed up metabolisms from past deiting from whom this will not apply).

If you think you're eating too little try increasing up to something more closely resembling your required caloric levels slowly - 200 hundred extra calories this week, another few the next week, depending on the size of the deficit. I would not suggest jumping from <1000 calories to 1700 overnight.

I recall some of it. I think I"m gonna skim it over though. And I feel stupid because I have like 500 posts, been here since Janurary... and I'm still messing up! (first tried lowcarbing since like last july..lol) Eck.
