Wink Recording what you eat!

I decided that since my weight has been bouncing up and down with no real weight loss for a month that I would start writing down every thing I eat through out the day and after the p[ast few days I have figured I have been taking in an average of 30 to 40 carbs a day and 1050 to 1400 calories a day. I have not got on the scales in over a week but I plan on weighing tomorrow. I had been keeping myself at 20 to 30 carbs a day for the longest time. I take my measurements once a month and I have lost another 1/2 inch in my waist since the end of June. I also thought about buying a product called Chitasen its a fat blocker anybody recommend this or not. I know that it is listed in one of the Atkins web sites.

DH and I are suppose to move his mom tho Charles City Iowa where his sister lives and of course her and I don't get along that well she use to make rudes comment about my weight problem but know I understand that she has gained alot of weight since she had 2 children I want to get down to 60 pounds of weight loss before we go thats in the next month.

Hi Christine,

Why don't you use the Journal/Bootcamp Forum to keep a journal? You can get a lot of advice by having it there.

If you are really eating between 1050 to 1400 calories a day, you are not eating enough calories. You should be eating between 10-12 times your current body weight.

Are you eating low-carb bars, nuts, fruit, lots of high fat dairy products or processed meats? Any of these may slow your weight loss. Are you drinking lots of water?

Chitosan is snake oil. It's been proven to work in a test tube, not in a human body. Don't waste your money on it!

No ones weight loss is constant. Your body and mind need to take a break occasionally to regroup. Doreen's comparison to mountain climbing is a good one: we should be thankful for the plateau when climbing a mountain. It gives us time to sit down and take a break, recharge, reflect and enjoy the scenery. The same is true with this way of life.

Christine, if you're losing inches, you ARE losing fat! I've lost little on the scale, but my clothes are getting looser and looser! You may be building muscle, which is denser than fat.

Also, as Karen says, you may not be eating enough, which can slow weight loss.

Just my 2 cents.

Rachel

Default Chitosan

hi Christine,

(sorry I didn't answer your previous post to me, it got lost down the list of "things to do" .. )

Yeds, Karen is right about the chitosan. We've had a number of discussions about it, and products containing it in the past ... click here to read it.

Adequate dietary fat, especially monounsaturates from olive oil and nuts, and essential omega-fatty acids are important for lowcarbing, so you really don't want to take something that would block those, if the product actually did work.

I agree with the others ... your body is recomposing itself from fat to muscle ... so the scales won't show the net difference, but the tape measure will .. .. Congratulations on the inches lost.

Doreen

Default Thanks Karen, rmines, dorent, ?

Thanks for your replies wanted to post a update I weighed this morning and have now lost 50 pounds so the scale is on the move again. I also put a pair of jeans on Saturday that I was able to fit into a month ago and now they are starting to get a little on the baggy side.
