Unhappy Why do I get so tired from exersicing??

Hi

This is my first week on Atkins, its going fine but when I´m exersicing I get so tired I have to quit ?
After about 20 minutes of exersice I have no strenght and I get so sleepy??
I´m using a exercisebike or a rowingmachine. (excuse my spelling I´m from Sweden and i´ts a long time since I´ve been in school )

Shall I eat something special before training so I have the strenght to keep on training longer than 20 minutes??

Please help a beginner to understand this about Atkins and training??
Is training something for us and how do I eat to get the strength to exersice??

First of all, what have you been eating? I have noticed people say they are on Atkins, but are usually not eating enough fat. It would help us to know what exactly you have been eating this past week.

But also, at least in my experience, the first week is kind of weird. Everyone reacts differently as your body switches over to ketosis.

Heck, my first week I was exhausted WITHOUT exercising!

I felt much better after that.

Ummm...still having trouble finding time for any more exercise than a 10 minute walk to Market Fresh and back for my lunchtime salad tho...

Hi Mrs Green. It's normal to not be able to exercise to your usual capacity in the early stages of Atkins. Your energy will return, but you might want to take it easy during the first few weeks. Your body has to adjust to burning fat instead of carbs.

Good luck!

Mrs. Green, your menu looks good to me.

Just keep it up! And as Kristine said, take it easy until you r body is really pumping out those ketones.

Good going!

It will get better if you stick with the diet until your body gets used to it. I work out pretty seriously, and I had to reduce my exercise for several weeks when I started LC. But eventually I could get back to it, and actually felt better during aerobic exercise than I did pre-LC.

IMO, the only time you might have to adapt Atkins might be if you want to do heavy weightlifting. But even then, some people do just fine without changing a thing.

another memeber told me that in an older atkins book ( i think the one before the newest) , atkins states not to exercise for the first week and that it can do more harm than good. also, in protein power book, they also suggest waiting AT LEAST a week before exercising. i guess each is different. but i think that is best. try and see. when your body is under too much stress, it holds on to weight. less is more in this case. hope that helps!! how cold is it there?

Default Thanks for all the answers!!

Ok, I´m gonna take in easy and be really lazy for a few days then.

It´s about 0-3 degrees warm here in Sweden, we got snow a week ago but it´s gone now. I hope we get some more soon because the days is so dark and grey.
This weekend I´m going away to visit my family, it´s going to be difficult to explain to everyone what my diet is and how it works.
The newspapers in Sweden hasen´t been writing nice articels about Atkins lately..

Have a nice weekend !!
And thanks again for the answers!!
