So, how do you stay motivated? I have to say that my motivation levels are in constant flux. Lately they have been quite low.

I am really interested in anyone's approach who has been doing this for six months or more, but anyone's shared mental outlook is appreciated!
Thanks

I've been doing this for almost 10 months and have lost about 80 pounds. When my motivation levels start to sink, I find it very helpful to read back over my journal and think about how far I have come and how much my life has improved since losing those 80 pounds. I focus on my achievements rather than on all the weight I have left to lose. That's usually enough to keep me on track.

I guess my motivation is asking myself what the alternative is. There is no alternative...at least no good alternative, so I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. This is it for me. Besides...I eat better than I've ever eaten in my life, so motivation as far as continuing this way of eating isn't needed, although sometimes I feel as heavy as I was when I started and that gets depressing...lol.

Whoops!!! LOL...I've only been low carbing two months...not six. Sorrrryyyyyy

Remembering how I used to look in my clothes, never wanting to buy anything nice because I was big, sweats and stretchies would do, now I can look forward to summer styles and I love my shirts tucked in with belts too - that's my motivation!

I've been lc'ing for about 16 months. In addition to what already has been said, I know I feel better than I ever had - I look back to 16 months ago, and I can hardly beleive I am the same person.

Once I was doing a "poor me" routine becaause I had only lost 20 pounds (I had over 100). When we were at the store, my husband took me down the flour/sugar aisle, and handed me a 5lb bag of sugar, then another, then another. I started laughing because do you realize exactly how heavy "just" a 5lb bag of sugar is? It really put things into perspective. Any loss is a good loss - no matter how long it takes. Sure we all want instant weight loss, but it isn't just going to happen.

I recently just got out of a 3-4 (I stopped counting) month stall. I got through it by knowing, deep down, that this is a good way to be healthy, and the weight loss would come when my body was good and ready, it did. I just happen to cut out the LC bars at the same time.

Hang in there, if I can do it - anyone can do it!

Besides how good I feel now and how my clothes fit, I think about how much better I will look and feel, and how cool it will be to buy a whole new wardrobe in several more months. If that all fails to keep me on track, I think about the little kid in the super market a year ago who pointed at me and in a shrill, loud voice said: "Mommy! Look at that big fat man!".

I have been doing this for about 7 or 6 1/2 months. I don't just weigh, I measure a lot of things and that helps keep me motivated. Plus, I asked the people here for the OTHER benefits they got from low carbing and I now have this list to refer to.

I am including a link to it here-add to it as you think of things. The file is located on page 2:

My wife and I are sharing the experience; we keep each other on track!

Coming here, keeping a journal and using FitDay all help keep me on track; my eating habits are exposed for the world to see.
