Default eDiets postpones announcing strategic changes/partnership while Atkins in hospital

EDiets postpones announcement planned for Wed.

Deerfield Beach diet information company eDiets.com (OTC BB: EDET) said it will postpone detailing its plans for a strategic change to its business, previously scheduled for Wednesday, because Dr. Robert Atkins is in the hospital.

Atkins is founder of Atkins Nutritionals. EDiets said a key element of the changes to its business plan involved a licensing partnership with Atkins Nutritionals.

Last week, Atkins slipped on the ice outside his New York City office. He suffered severe head trauma and has been hospitalized since that time.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Atkins and his family," said David Humble, eDiets chief executive officer. "Given his condition, we felt it appropriate to delay our announcement at this time."

Last week, eDiets said its plan involved shifting from a one-product company - diet information - to become a source for multiple branded diet solutions. It is not known with what other brands, in addition to Atkins Nutritionals, eDiets may have signed agreements.

Shares in the diet information company closed Tuesday at $1.10. No 52-week high/low information was available.
