Question Percentages of fat and protein, and carbs.

Can anyone tell me what Atkins recommends as for percentage of diet that are supposed to be fat and protein?

I just checked out Fitday and would like to know.

TIA!

Hi Barbara, (welcome!)

I don't think Dr A says to worry about anything except carbs.

Having said that, most of us seem to get best results from something along the lines of 70% fat, 25% protein and 5% carbs. This is not a hard and fast figure, though, so no need to stress too much over it.

Dr A also doesn't say much about calories either, but the most successful folk here are often the ones who keep their cals up to about 10 to 12 times current weight.

HTH

Default Thanks Rosebud!

Sure nice to have my first question answered by one of the 'top dogs'! Looks as if I'll have to bump up my fat intake. I like beef more than turkey anyway! My typical day has me at 45% protein, 50% fat, and 5% carbs. And my cals. run about 2000/day.

Thanks for the welcome. GREAT SITE!!!

My ratio for best results is 65/5/30 with calories around 1500-1600. When I stray from these figures I lose slower.
